I tried it on a couple of routers and the utility was able to quickly find the BlackArmor NAS 220 on all networks. Seagate bundles a BlackArmor Discovery utility you install on a Windows PC that finds the NAS on the network in seconds. What the BlackArmor NAS 220 lacks in innovative design, it makes up in ease of use and features. The NAS is quiet enough that it can sit comfortably on your small office desk and not disturb your phone calls. Even with the tight space, Seagate has been able to divert the heat from the case, which remains cool to the touch during use. The space inside is so compact that getting to the SATA II drives in either 2GB or 4GB configurations requires unscrewing almost the entire case. Outside it has a Gigabit network port, plus 2 USB 2.0 ports. The case is entirely black, including the front panel, which only has a blue light indicating power is on. At 4.09 x 7.79 x 7.40 inches, it's about one-third the size of the Acer Aspire easyStore H340. It's barely larger than the two hard drives it houses. The Seagate BlackArmor NAS 220 is one of the smallest NAS devices on the market. You get the best of Seagate in this tiny box, and I was not disappointed one bit. Seagate included many of the enterprise features available on the larger product, but at a price of $449.99 for 2TB. It's more than just a compact networked attached storage (NAS) device, however. In order to attract the prosumer market rather than just the corporate market, Seagate has released a smaller version of its BlackArmor NAS 440 and called it the 220.
